Shin Budokai News + KidMark / Lion's Gate News
VegettoEX @ 9:12 pm EST -- Gamespot is currently running a feature for Shin Budokai (PSP) on their front page right now. Some thing you may or may not already know about the game is that its story mode will draw elements from DBZ movie 12 (out in the US next month), and that the Japanese voice cast will be selectable!

Our next bit of big news comes to us courtesy of our friend Sean "Onikuno" Forster:

I was at Megacon today and spoke with Lance Heiskell the Funimation rep. I asked him the obligatory "what's up with DB eps 1-13?" question. But this time I learned something new.

According to Lance, when Funimation set up the original contract with Kidmark who is now owned by Lions Gate, it was put in the contract that Kidmark would own the rights to those episodes indefinetley. Meaning they would always have distro rights.

The good news is that Funimation has NOT GIVEN UP. What they may have to do according to Lance is that they would be able to work out a deal where they would give a percentage of profits to Lions Gate. They are intent on making this happen. When this will happen is still up in the air.

After... how many years?... we finally have confirmation that FUNimation is indeed trying to do something about it. It wouldn't surprise me that all of us asking about the darn episodes convention after convention after convention finally got them to realize we want to purchase the episodes ^_~.

Podcast Episode #0015 + Anime 20th Anniversary!
VegettoEX @ 7:30 pm EST -- Episode #0015 of the podcast is available for download! We were gone all weekend, so we had to both record and edit early. We bring you a short episode, but that doesn't mean it's lacking anything! In fact, it's probably one of the more fun episodes we've done...! Check it out!

And on a somewhat different note, 20 years ago on Japanese television, a little show called DragonBall began airing. Happy birthday to our favorite anime!

New CD Sets Released in Japan
VegettoEX @ 10:17 pm EST -- Not sure if we really need to say it, but both the Best Song Collection and Complete BGM Collection were released in Japan today. We can all expect our shipments in the next week or so :D.

Best Song Collection
Complete BGM Collection

Our forum member kenisu3000 has started a thread documenting which pieces are actually going to appear on the set, where they're from, what comes from the 5-CD set, etc. Much thanks!

Podcast Episode #0014
VegettoEX @ 11:59 pm EST -- Episode #0014 of the podcast is up and available for downloading! This was another fun episode that allowed us to do all sorts of sound-sampling and detailed explanations, but have a Hell of a time in the process and entertain ourselves far too much :P. Check it out!

Sorry for it being a little late, but hey... even *we* have busy weekends every so often! Mmm, long weekend... *drools*

17 February 2006

The Red Ribbon Army... The Band, Take Two!
VegettoEX @ 10:50 pm EST -- The Red Ribbon Army (self-described as "2una meets Elliot Smith...you know, something underground") released a split-EP with Antique Row last month.

Support your fellow fans, and their awesome music. This is the kind of music you should be listening to, anyway. Check them out over on their MySpace page.

Cheap DBGT DVDs on Amazon
VegettoEX @ 7:08 pm EST -- Well, sorta. The second so-called "Lost Episodes" disc (Rejection; DBGT episodes 4-6) is listed on the searches as $17.99, but going into the page will reveal a ridiculous price of only $9.99. If you need it, now's the time to grab it. Unfortunately, all of the others are still full-price (but cheap enough, comparatively speaking). It seems that this particular disc is shipping from a distributer other than Amazon; guess they have a surplus.

While you're at it, pre-order movie 12 for $16.99.

Podcast Episode #0013
VegettoEX @ 8:40 am EST -- It has arrived! This episode we of course hit up all the latest news (which includes video games and CDs, as always), but we also set up our future plans for AnimeNext this year (come join us!) and DVD-giveaways on the show. We conclude our discussion on puns by going over the DB movie & DBZ TV special characters, and then we catch up on all your e-mail.

And Julian sings.

Shin Budokai JP Cover Art
VegettoEX @ 8:14 pm EST -- Three updates in a single day...?!? What is this, 1999...?!?

Big thanks to forum member LaRésistance for the heads-up on this one. American art on the left, Japanese art on the right.

New Japanese CDs Cover Art & Tracklistings
VegettoEX @ 7:07 pm EST -- Kanzentai are lovely people. They are available at the computer at hours I am not, which means they were able to get to this stuff before us ^_~.

Best Song Collection
Complete BGM Collection

The cover art for both CD sets can be seen above. We also currently have up the translated tracklisting (go me!) for the "Best Song Collection" 2 CD set. Long story short, it's basically just "Never Ending Story 1½" (the vast majority of those songs, plus the rest of the movie ending themes).

Expect a translated tracklisting for the "Complete BGM Collection" from Julian soon!

Shin Budokai JP Release
VegettoEX @ 7:45 am EST -- Shin Budokai seems to have a date set of April 4th in Japan.

In terms of the American version, it looks like Gamestop has slightly updated their listing to read a "Pre-Release" of March 7th. Does this mean a delay? Ya' know, I'm not sure if I would call it a "delay" when nothing's ever really been set in stone... :P

05 February 2006

Podcast Episode #0012 + The History of Bardock
VegettoEX @ 9:30 pm EST -- Episode #0012 of the podcast is up and available for downloading! In addition to all the latest news and releases, we go over the history of Bardock, beginning to end. Did you know that he was jointly-created by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru and Akira Toriyama? Listen away!

Once you're done listening... go check out the actual character designs! Yes, the Bardock "Tidbit" is finally finished! We have character designs by both Nakatsuru and Toriyama available for viewing, along with a detailed explanation of the character's history and implementation into the TV special, TV series, and even the manga. Check it out!

04 February 2006

Shin Budokai (US) Cover Art
VegettoEX @ 9:30 pm EST -- The cover art for the North American release of Shin Budokai on the PSP has been released. It's... uhh... yeah.

03 February 2006

Advance Adventure Delayed (Again) + R2 DVDs
VegettoEX @ 7:50 pm EST -- Gamestop's listing for Advance Adventure on the GBA is now showing an April 6th release date. Oh, this poor game! Shame on them for teasing us by announcing it, and then continuing to push it back!

We're a little late on this, as they all came out back on the 1st of the month, but here's this month's individual DBZ DVDs in Japan, all based on the "Dragon Box" release from 2003:

DragonBall Z: Volume #10

TV episodes 55-60

¥3990

(purchase @ CDJapan)
(purchase @ Amazon.co.jp)

DragonBall Z: Volume #11

(purchase @ Amazon.co.jp)

DragonBall Z: Volume #12

Amazon Japan has them for 20% off (¥3192) if you want a deal!

Look for Episode #0012 of the podcast this weekend!

Real Shin Budokai Screen Shots!
VegettoEX @ 7:19 am EST -- Jeux-France has updated with a good deal of (high-res!) screen shots from the upcoming PSP game, Shin Budokai. The game is an enhanced port of Budokai 3, including such items as additional characters.

Check out the new images, including the ridiculously sexy Paikuhan versus Janenba from the funky Hell in DBZ movie 12. Thanks to kindertuin on our forums for the link.

That said, we will now be accepting donations to purchase us a PSP. It's not that I couldn't buy one, but I don't want to buy one just for a single game! ^_~
