Daizenshuu EX - Guides - DVD Guide

There are just so many releases of DragonBall (and all things related) on DVD, that it's nearly impossible to keep track of them (nevermind what's on them, which languages are present, what are the extras, etc). From this index you can click further for full series description, and eventually you will be able to click individual discs to enter deeper pages with full descriptions of what's on each disc (in terms of specific episodes, extras, quality of video, etc).

DRAGONBALL TV SERIES

FUNimation has released the entire DragonBall TV series in two-disc sets. All but the first thirteen episodes (the "Saga of Goku" boxset, which also contains DB movie 1) are bilingual and uncut.

DRAGONBALL MOVIES

Movie 1 is included in the "Saga of Goku" TV boxset as and edited, dub-only release. Movie 2 has been released as a part of the DB movies 2-4 boxset (with a supposed individual release coming soon). Movies 3 and 4 (the 10th anniversary movie) both had their own individual, uncut, bilingual releases (though there is also an edited, dub-only release of movie 4).

DRAGONBALL Z TV SERIES

The first two seasons of FUNimation's dub have been released by Pioneer as edited & dub-only. These are currently seeing a confusing re-release that includes a canceled "Ultimate Uncut Edition" run in favor of a faux-"remastered" widescreen release which contains a redub using FUNimation's current voice cast. After that, the entire TV series is uncut and bilingual, released directly from FUNimation. These releases will be phased out in favor of FUNimation's faux-"remastered" widescreen release of the rest of the series.

Volumes Released / Announced: 87 +
Total Volumes Expected:
87 + Redub Volumes
Episodes: 1-276 (-291) English / 1-291 Japanese

DRAGONBALL Z MOVIES

Similar to the first two seasons of the TV series, FUNimation's productions of movies 1-3 have been released by Pioneer, with FUNimation themselves directly releasing the rest of them. Upon completing the remainder of the movies, FUNimation returned to release a "First Strike" boxset that contained the re-releases of DBZ movies 1, 2, & 3. Following the success of their faux-"remastered" DBZ TV season sets, FUNimation will begin releasing the DBZ movies as double-features in a similar style beginning in May 2008 concurrently on DVD and Blu-ray.
