For
more detailed information on the DragonBall
movies, be sure to visit the "Movie
Guide" on this site. There, you'll find
in-depth information such as the original Japanese
titles, fully translated cast and crew listings,
both the original Japanese and English voice actors,
theme songs, and more!
DB
movie 1 was produced by FUNimation along with the
first 13 episodes back in 1995 for release on home
video, which was edited and English Dubbed Only.
The "Saga of Goku" boxset contains
these episodes and the movie as they were originally
produced. This version of the movie contains scenes
from TV episode 2, in addition to the regular movie
footage. Since then, FUNimation has redubbed the
first 13 episodes with the original Japanese score
(they had replaced it, earlier) and aired them on
Cartoon Network, with plans for an eventual DVD
release. While nothing specific has been stated,
it is likely that movie 1 will see a re-release
with a Japanese audio track and re-dub at some point
in the future.
DB
movie 2 had, up until 2005, only its original edited
and uncut English dub VHS release available for
purchase. In 2005, it finally received a bilingual
DVD release, as a part of FUNimation's DB movies
2-4 boxset on 6 December 2005. This boxset was recently re-released on 12 February 2008; it is essentially identical to the original release (no re-dubbed audio, no music changes, no translation changes on the Japanese side, etc.) except that it is packaged as a "thin-pack" set.
DB
movie 3 contains only the original Japanese title
card; missing is the English one created for the VHS
release.
DB
movies 1 and 3 have their own original animation for
the opening theme song.
