DragonBall: Episode 003
(Originally aired 12 March 1986)

亀仙人のキント雲
"Kame-Sen'nin no Kinto-Un"
("The Kinto-Un of Kame-Sen'nin")

Chapter 003 continues:

Canon Segment: 4 minutes, 56 seconds

Goku runs down the road, carrying Umigame on his back, as Bulma rides beside them on her motorcycle. A mean bear spots them in his telescope, and thinks that they have something nice. He stops them and tells Goku to hand over the turtle, as it is his favorite food. Bulma wants to comply, but Goku just sticks his tongue out. The bear threatens to kill Goku, but he still refuses, so they begin fighting as Bulma rides away scared. The bear swings his sword, but Goku is agile enough to avoid all of his swings. Eventually, Goku finishes him off with a Janken "Guu" square in the face. Goku asks Umigame if he really is tasty, but the turtle swiftly denies it.

After a while the group finally makes it to the ocean (with the Toriyama Bot there to explain that it is not Penguin Village!). As Goku is excited and awestricken by the sight of this "wide river", Umigame tearfully thanks them. Before swimming away, he asks them to wait there so he can do something to express his gratitude. Bulma begins to wish she had brought a bathing suit, while Goku discovers this water is quite salty.

Filler Segment: 2 minutes, 4 seconds

Pilaf daydreams of people bowing down to him as he holds the Yi Xing Qiu, until Mai and Shuu burst in.

They explain that there was no Dragon Ball, though there were wolves and a monkey boy. Pilaf does not care, and scolds them, until his phone rings. The caller informs him that an old man called Kame-Sen'nin has a Dragon Ball, so the three of them set off to obtain it.

Canon Segment: 3 minutes, 27 seconds

Goku and Bulma play around in the sand, until they notice something approaching. Goku notes that it is the turtle from before, but he has something on his back.

As he swims closer, Bulma points out that he has brought someone here with him. Umigame apologizes for the wait, and the old man on his back, Kame-Sen'nin, greets them with a "Hello!"

Chapter 003 ends
Chapter 004 begins:
"Kame-Sen'nin no Kinto-Un" / "The Kinto-Un of Kame-Sen'nin"

Kame-Sen'nin tells them "Good afternoon," and introduces himself. He asks Umigame which one saved him, and the turtle points to the boy. As such, Kame-Sen'nin tells Goku he'll give him a good present. He calls for the Phoenix... but Umigame reminds him the Phoenix died of food poisoning. Kame-Sen'nin's plan was to call the Phoenix to grant Goku eternal life, but instead, he will have to try this one: Kinto-Un. The cloud swoops in, and Goku wants to know how to eat it. Kame-Sen'nin explains that you can ride on it and fly freely through the sky. However, you must have a pure heart to be able to ride it. Kame-Sen'nin tries to demonstrate... but falls straight through to the ground. Goku wants to try, and hops right on with ease.

Filler Segment: 1 minute, 52 seconds

Pilaf's plane touches down on the beach outside Kame House, and the three of them prepare to storm the house and steal the Dragon Ball. Pilaf first tries an undercover tactic: pretending to deliver a telegram. When they realize no one is home, he instead decides to use his skeleton key to unlock the door. It does not work, though. Mai and Shuu then ask him, from a window inside, why he locked the door.

Canon Segment: 3 minutes 27 seconds

Goku gleefully flies around on his new cloud, and Bulma says she wants one too. Kame-Sen'nin doesn't have another Kinto-Un, but he will give her something else on one condition: she must show him her panties. Bulma considers it for a bit, and then decides she will do it. Of course, he sees a lot more than that, and realizes he must give her something really good in turn.

Bulma suddenly notices his necklace, and wants to see it. She takes a close look, and confirms that it's a Dragon Ball: the San Xing Qiu. She calls Goku down to come see it, and realizes it must have been the one that showed up as being far south on the Radar. Bulma is very happy to have another Dragon Ball, which makes Kame-Sen'nin reluctant to give away something that is apparently valuable. So, she flashes him a few more times, and he relents. Then, they each head off.

Goku and Bulma return to their capsule house, where she wants to change and put the house back in its capsule, and then they will head towards the fifth Dragon Ball. While inside, she screams when she finds her underwear. She feels worse when she realizes what really occurred on the beach. Goku thinks she must be upset about having "no balls", and tries to reassure her. This confuses her, so Goku explains he saw "it" this morning. She comes to the conclusion that he took off her underwear, which Goku innocently confirms. Bulma promptly pulls out a machine gun and begins firing at him for it.

Filler Segment: 2 minutes, 10 seconds

Pilaf, Mai, and Shuu tear up the inside of Kame House in search of the Dragon Ball, but cannot find it anywhere. Mai thinks the old man must have known they were coming and escaped. They head outside where an alligator is tanning himself. Pilaf pulls a knife on him, asking where Kame-Sen'nin went. The alligator nervously says he left with the turtle, just as Kame-Sen'nin returns to the island. Pilaf demands he hand over the Dragon Ball. Kame-Sen'nin informs him that, unfortunately, he just gave it to a girl and a monkey boy. Pilaf decides to find these two, converting his plane to a boat mode. He needs Kame-Sen'nin to give the boat a push, though. Kame-Sen'nin pokes it with his staff, enough to not only move it, but also punch a hole through the hull. The boat begins taking in water as they head off.

Canon Segment: 47 seconds

The house is placed back in its capsule as Bulma scolds Goku for taking her panties. She wants to ride on Kinto-Un, but Goku reminds her that the old man said you have to be a good kid to ride it. Nonetheless, she insists that she is always pure and honest... and yet she falls through miserably when she tries to get on. She concludes that being too beautiful must be a crime. As they ride off, Goku complains that her motorcycle is too slow.

Filler Segment: 23 seconds

Meanwhile, Pilaf's boat begins filling up completely with water, and begins to sink. Pilaf's hat then floats to the surface by itself...

THIS AND THAT:
n/a
ALTERED SCENE:
n/a
MISSING SCENE:
There is a tiny bit of dialogue in the manga that was not animated. While returning to the capsule house from the beach, Goku points out that it was a good thing helping that turtle after all, and Bulma responds that it was just pure chance.
MISCELLANEOUS:
In the anime only, Kame-Sen'nin sings about "Urashima" when he first appears. This is a reference to the Urashima in an old Japanese story about a fisherman that saves a turtle. In both the anime and manga, Bulma hopes that Umigame isn't planning on rewarding their kindness with a "tamatebako", which was the term used for a treasure box Urashima received that held very bittersweet contents.
