  Daizenshuu EX - Ask VegettoEX

We all frequent message boards and online forums (such as alt.fan.dragonball), and we all contribute as much as we can. Unfortunately, we don't KNOW of all the places people post questions, so it's impossible for us to reach everyone. However, if you're reading this, you at least know where WE are, so it's possible for you to ask us directly.

What we're going for here is sort of an "Answerman" or "Ask John" (from Anime News Network and Anime Nation, respectively). We'd like you to e-mail in whatever questions you may have, so long as it somehow relates to the world of DragonBall; be it the manga, the anime, merchandise.. whatever. We've been around for a few years, now, and we know the ropes... we like to think we know our stuff.

And we want to help. E-mail your questions to VegettoEX@aol.com with the subject "Ask VegettoEX." We'll try to update this section every weekend with at least one question straight from the fans. Thanks!

Q. I noticed in a past question, you explained that it was insinuated that Trunks was perhaps not mentally stable. When exactly in the series was this insinuation made? - Makankoposo

A. If you came from the future Trunks came from, wouldn't you also feel a little mentally unstable? Trunks has a variety of flashbacks showcasing this horrible future, and there are a variety of scenes where he almost seems like he can't take it anymore. He also seems to hallucinate at times... interesting guy. - VegettoEX

Q. I remember reading information online that stated that Goku's rage during his first SSJ transformation was so great that, for an instant, he was just short of, or very well could have gone, SSJ2. I don't have anything to back this info up, or a website to quote from, but I swear that I remember reading that quite a while ago. I was wondering what your thoughts were on this. Also, I have another question, while on the subject of the first SSJ transformation. Originally, Goku was voiced by a very talented actress, but her final scream for Goku's transformation scene sounds quite different. Quite male, actually. Was her voice synthesized or altered in any way to create that deeper yell that we hear, or is her scream genuine? This was more that ten years ago, of course, so I am doubtful about the synthesizing speculation. Thanks a lot. - Wassup2

A. As far as I know, it was a totally different voice. I don't think the "new" voice is actually CREDITED in the episode, so it's pretty hard to tell... but it's certainly a male voice. I don't believe it's possible for Masako Nozawa to get her voice quite like that ^^;;. - VegettoEX

Q. Oi! Since you have so much information on DB music, I figured I would ask you this. I found this song on this site, and it was called "Vegeta's Theme (Prince of Saiyajins)". I was wondering if you knew what this song is called (in its original Japanese name) and where it's from, because I really like it and and want to hear the actual version. ;_; Thanks. :) - TheTakuSupreme

A. This seems to be another case of start-up sites stealing crap among each other, taking the names of tracks without realizing what they are, and confusing their visitors to no end!

The MIDI appears to be a badly composed version of Vegeta's theme from the Super Famicom fighting game Super Butoden 2. An arranged version of the song appears on the game's respective soundtrack. - VegettoEX

Q. Do you know where I can download Dragon Ball manga translations...? I dont wanna buy Viz's because they dont translate the chapter titles correctly... among other things. - Luis

A. Ya' know, Luis, our "Manga Reference Guide" has all of the translations of the original chapter titles, along with the corresponding Viz titles. I dunno if you read last week's question that addressed the downloading of manga... but... uhh... we're not into that sort of thing. To say you don't want to buy Viz's version because you don't like their chapter title translations... ?!? That's getting pretty ridiculous, bud. Time to wake up and smell the coffee. - VegettoEX

Q. I have read news on your site that talked about a new Dragon Ball ending in the last kanzenban. What happens in this ending and could you possibly scan it on to your site? (Your link to Greg Werner's seems to be broken) Also, could you give a website where you can purchase the kanzenban volumes? I love your site and keep up the good work, especially the manga reference page as that is the coolest! - Barbara Wise

A. As you've most likely seen by now, we have a new "DragonBall Manga Ending" page to our "Images" section, now, which has scans of both the original ending and the new kanzenban ending, along with full translations and our thoughts on the new ending. At the top of that page, you'll also find a link to Amazon Japan's listing of the final kanzenban; they've got an English ordering page, so as long as you find what you're looking for you'll be able to order it! Just follow the links from there and you should be all set. - VegettoEX

Q. Why is the adult Trunks in DBGT so scrawny (at least when compared to his super-buff future counterpart)? - FDLink

A. Future Trunks is not the same character as Chibi Trunks; therefore, it would be ridiculous to assume that they would end up looking exactly alike. The two were brought up in totally different scenarios (one actually HAD a family and friends), with completely different out-looks on life; all of this would certainly result in different looking people. - VegettoEX

Q. Do you know anywhere where I can buy the PlayDia game footage? (I won't call it the OVA :) ) as I have every other bit of Dragonball, Dragonball Z and GT footage on a nice big shelve unit (in original Japanese I might add) and would like to add it to my collection. - David Hogan

A. As our respective page says, Ramza subbed it on VHS back in 2000. I highly doubt many people actually have this, nevermind know where their tape is. On the plus side, the footage was included in the second DBZ "Dragon Box" (the Japanese DVD boxsets) as an extra; technically, you can get it on DVD there... I highly doubt you'd be able to track down the original Toei / Bandai VHS releases. - VegettoEX

THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE BOARD DISCUSSION:

Here we are in the latest week of this new feature! I think it's a really neat thing to add to the section, and I'm glad to see people are getting involved. Please feel free to contribute to the discussion, and even start up your own!

Q. I was wondering what everyone else thought of their existence. I've seen some people who didn't like them and others that did. Personally I like powerlevels, especially from the stand point of a Fanfiction writer. Having numbers that denote strength allows me to keep straight how much power person A has against B, how much power they gain after transformations, etc. - Xyex

A. Read over the discussion, here! And, like the question says, remember that Daizenshuu EX isn't a choice this time!! :D

We're trying to stay with our weekly schedule for the section... so... e-mail us your questions for next week's update! We love getting all these questions, each week, so the more you send us, the more we can (try to) answer for you!
