Video game music is a big thing in Japan; nearly every game gets at least one CD released, traditionally in either an "original" or "arranged" soundtrack version.

  • An original soundtrack will have the music exactly as heard in the game (if it is a 16-bit game, you will hear 16-bit music on the original soundtrack). These have become less prevalent as game (and thus game soundtrack) production values and technology have allowed for composers to create music as it was perhaps originally intended.

  • An arranged soundtrack will traditionally have re-recorded (or perhaps remixed) music to take full advantage of the digital format; sometimes it is even performed by an orchestra!

Nearly all early DragonBall game soundtracks are arranged (although since the Budokai games come with music that is "arranged" already, this is not necessarily the case, anymore).
