Detailed Synopsis

"Special guests" for a tournament, all decked out in incredible fighting gear, arrive for the new Budôkai. Mr. Money asks why this is being held (a rhetorical question); it's a birthday present for his (spoiled) son! They paid for aliens to come fight, all as a great present for the birthday boy. "Mr. Money" is apparently the world's richest man, and has invited everyone to fight in the tournament. The winner will receive 100 million Zeni!

Back on Kaiô-sama's planet, we see the recently-deceased Lord of the Worlds watching the event on his television. Mr. Money introduces Mr. Satan... the hero who saved the world from Cell! Mr. Satan makes his dramatic entrance as the "strongest man," crushing a stack of bricks... only to hurt his hand. Goku, slightly sarcastic, can't believe that it was Mr. Satan that saved the world from Cell!

Festivities begin, with jets flying around creating all kinds of smoke designs in the air. Two hundred fighters have arrived to fight on the eight battle stages. Different from other tournaments, in this one, twenty five fighters all fight in a free-for-all top platforms; the last remaining on each will go on to the semi-finals. Kuririn bounces around, kicking fighters off left and right with no problem, utterly happy with himself. He hears Chi-Chi in the distance cheering for Gohan... and starts to get worried. He next hears Piccolo's attack sounds knocking people off, and says it's great that Trunks isn't here. A pile of defeated fighters falls behind him, and Kuririn looks up to see Trunks grinning from atop another platform! Kuririn sighs and says to himself that he would have been fine if it were just Yamcha and Tenshinhan...

Baby Trunks chases some butterflies as Chi-Chi and Bulma talk about the tournament in the stands. Chi-Chi notes that it's good exercise for Gohan, while Bulma just wants to go on the hot springs tour that the winner receives! When Bulma explains that Trunks will easily win (after all, he did just defeat the two jinzôningen in the future), Chi-Chi asks where Vegeta is. Bulma sighs and says that he's lost his fighting spirit, and just mopes around all day. Chi-Chi wonders if it's because of Goku's death...

Oolong and Chiao-tzu cheer from the sidelines as Kame-Sen'nin crawls up a pole to get a good look at all the hot babes. He spots a fine group having desert, and pops right in with a "Hi!!!" Back on Kaiô-sama's planet, Goku peers over the god's shoulder to watch the tournament on TV, marveling at the size the Budôkai has become.

Yamcha lies atop a giant pole, clearly depressed. Bulma and Chi-Chi get into an argument over who will win, when Dosukoi, a giant Sumo wrestler, knocks over the pole Yamcha was on, dropping him into the water... disqualified! Gohan remarks that his father used to hone his fighting skills here, so he will try his best. Up in Mr. Satan's chambers, the ersatz "Savior of the World" watches as Gohan, Trunks, Kuririn, Piccolo, Tenshinhan, and three others qualify... dropping another utensil and opening his mouth in horror more and more each time! A reporter asks how the fighters are doing, and Mr. Satan can only stammer that they all need more practice!

The fight semi-final match begins; Gohan vs. Udo, a giant blonde man. Gohan foot sweeps him, knocking him into a mountain in the distance. The second match begins; Trunks vs. Tenshinhan! Tenshinhan tells Trunks not to hold back, and they rush off into battle. Tenshinhan misses a few punches and his smacked down, but uses Bukûjutsu so as not to hit the water. Flying above, Tenshinhan fires a massive Kikôhô at Trunks, and lands a good hit in on the cheek. Both smile at each other, but it's clear who will have the upper-hand; Trunks explodes into Super Saiyan as the reporter asks what the heck is going on... Mr. Satan screams that it must be a trick!

Back at Capsule Corp, Vegeta scoffs, turns off the TV, and lies back down.

Trunks appears above Tenshinhan and knocks him down into the water before he has a chance to do anything. Trunks lowers himself and helps Tenshinhan out of the water with a smile. Mr. Satan, now looking pale, stammers that he has a stomach ache! He rushes off saying that he must get out of here! As he leaves, a crowd in the distance spots him and begins cheering his name. Mr. Satan has no chance but to raise his hands in the air and take his admiration.

The third match begins; Kuririn vs. Piccolo. Kuririn hopes, in utter fright, that Piccolo doesn't use the Makkankôsappô. Oolong says there's no need for Gohan to cheer for Piccolo; there's no contest. Piccolo stands in silence with his eyes closed, and Kuririn gets upset that he's being mocked! Kuririn rushes in for an attack, missing and flying straight through Piccolo's cape. Kuririn flies back up, and is grabbed by Piccolo, who says that this is a waste of time. Piccolo throws Kuririn back into the ring, and takes off; Kuririn wins! "Lucky!"

Goku is playing cards with Bubbles and Gregory, who are clearly cheating (Baba joker!). Goku asks how it's going; Kaiô-sama responds that Gohan's made it, so far!

Mr. Satan pops up from a sewer hole and runs towards the end of a hallway, only to be stopped by another staffer. Mr. Satan explains that he needs to leave to see his private doctor, and will simply cross this bridge... this bridge... that... doesn't exist?! Mr. Satan turns around to see not an "escape" bridge, but a group a fans (again!) cheering his name. The staffer explains the next round of battles is going to begin on Island 2.

Gohan and Trunks are cheered on by their mothers, while Kuririn is given a half-assed cheer of approval from Oolong. Each of the remaining fighters is to take a special car to a tunnel, where he will meet one of the special alien guests to battle. The winner will get to fight Mr. Satan, personally! Kuririn says this will be easy... he just has to be the first back! The countdown begins, and the cars blast off. The announcer tells the crowd they can watch the battles on the monitors. Inside, Kuririn and the others appear to be on some kind of roller coaster ride to their matches (which makes Kuririn quite uneasy!). Gohan's ship explodes, and he lands in some strange bubbles. Kuririn's car crashes into some kind of volcanic area, setting his hair on fire. Trunks looks around in concern, wondering if this is the battle area.

Kuririn sees someone in the distance, and wonders if they are his opponent. When the smoke clears, Kuririn sees a cute girl staring back at him! He won't show any mercy just because she's a girl, though. The female fighter rushes in and lands a series of incredible attacks with a smile, knocking Kuririn aside on the ground. The crowd watches in amazement as Kuririn is defeated.

Dosukoi (the sumo wrestler) is grabbed from below by the neck, and is choked to death. The crowd now begins to scream as a blue-skinned, mohawked fighter grins back at the camera. Kaiô-sama, ignoring the television, looks below in horror. Mr. Money wonders who these people are as the crowd begins to run off. Yamcha and Tenshinhan look at each other, nod, and follow the path down to the battle arenas.

Trunks is attacked by a series of purple blasts by a strange man up in a tree. The opponent rushes forward with an attack, blocking a punch by Trunks, who asks who he is. The opponent responds that he is but a mere warrior from another galaxy. The two run through the water and stop; the other fighter puts away his sword, and begins to transform. His body gets larger and his shirt rips apart.

Gohan watches strange bubbles popping around him, and is then attacked by a series of large building blocks. Another strange fighter lowers himself from the sky, using some kind of telekinesis to attack Gohan with other items. Gohan yells for him to stop... this is only a game! The other fighter moves his hands in a strange fashion, and the landscape begins to change around them...

Mr. Satan sits on the toilet, unable to decide what to do!

Trunks, under a massive attack from his opponent, is knocked to the ground with incredible force. The opponent brings out his sword again, and slashes at Trunks... who explodes into Super Saiyan and blocks the sword with his arm! Trunks breaks the sword with his power, and punches directly through his opponent, killing him. We see, from the shadows, a strange caped fighter appear and kick Trunks to the ground. Vegeta sits up in bed, wondering what that ki was... Mr. Satan emerges from the bathroom (to the delight of the staffers)... with toilet paper hanging from his feet. Mr. Satan is rushed off to a special car, sending him off to the battle arenas.

Kaiô-sama says that the Earth is in a great pinch.. it's Bojack! Kaiô-sama explains that Bojack tried to destroy all four galaxies in the past, and was sealed away in a star at the end of the galaxy by all four Kaiô. Bojack was released when Goku destroyed Kaiô-sama's planet (and killed him in the process); the seal was broken.

Gohan flies down to find that both Kuririn and Trunks have been defeated. In the distance, a voice tells Gohan that this is a nice planet. A strange-looking (pirate?!) alien emerges from a building, as Gohan notes his incredible power; it's Bojack. Tenshinhan and Yamcha appear, as do Bojack's apparent servants. His minions explain that Bojack has no equal in the entire universe, and that all who stand in his way will be killed. Yamcha and Tenshinhan rush forward, but are interrupted by Bojack's henchmen. Gohan, still standing over Kuririn and Trunks, now sees Yamcha and Tenshinhan unconscious. Gohan explodes into Super Saiyan, saying they will not be forgiven. He rushes forward attacking all of the henchmen, able to dodge most of their attacks. In time, he just can't keep up with all of them, and is held off pretty well. Bojack watches with delight as Gohan is smacked around and blasted back and forth.

Kaiô-sama says that it's not looking good, and Goku yells for Gohan to let his power explode!

Gohan, however, is too busy being blasted, and falls to the ground with black hair. Bojack fires a giant ball of energy at Gohan, but it is deflected by a Makankôsappô; Piccolo stands in the distance with his arms crossed. He takes off his cape and rushes in directly at Bojack, landing a pretty good hit. Piccolo, however, cannot keep up with Bojack's speed, and is also knocked down into a building. Just as Bojack prepares to finish off Piccolo, Trunks appears in USSJ form in front of Bojack and fires a series of blasts. One of Bojack's henchmen catches Trunks in some strange wires, though, knocking him out of Super Saiyan. Somehow the wires break, and Trunks catches his sword. The ground shakes, and Vegeta, turning into a Super Saiyan, comes up from underneath the henchmen.

Vegeta calmly fires blasts at Bojack, and then rushes in for a full-scale attack. Trunks mentions that since Goku died, Vegeta hasn't had any reason to fight... now, to protect Trunks and Gohan, Vegeta has arrived to battle. Vegeta is knocked down, but yells for Trunks not to interfere with the fight. Trunks catches his father, who elbows him in the stomach and takes off again. Gohan consoles Piccolo, who is also down for the count, while Vegeta is attacked and pretty well defeated. Trunks is again caught in the strange wires as Gohan flies in to help his friends.

The crowd can do nothing but watch, frightened, on the monitors as Mr. Satan is finally sent off to the battle.

Trunks is blasted down to the ground, out of Super Saiyan, again. Gohan, himself, turns into a Super Saiyan and attacks Bojack, but is knocked through a series of buildings. Bojack once again showcases his speed, and tricks Gohan into being caught in the wires, now being used by two of the henchmen. Gohan lowers his head, falling out of Super Saiyan, as Bojack punches the defenseless child.

Mr. Satan's car flies in from above, causing a disruption in the attack... the wires are lost, but Bojack blasts Mr. Satan's car out of the air. Gohan turns Super Saiyan, again, and tries to attack, but it is the same result. He is knocked out of Super Saiyan, down into the ground. Bojack now picks up the boy in a bear-bug and begins to crush his entire body. Gohan coughs up blood, and starts to lose consciousness. Goku turns to Kaiô-sama, who shakes his head... they can do nothing but watch. The camera pans over all of the defeated heroes of Earth as Gohan's screams are heard in the distance. Gohan whispers for his father and tilts his head back, unconscious. Goku can take no more, and uses Shunkan-idô to teleport over and land a punch on Bojack's face, taking him completely off guard.

A ghost-like Goku carries Gohan to the ground, telling him to release his power and protect the Earth. Gohan opens his eyes on the ground, confident that it was his father who saved him. Bojack fights to stand up, wondering what just happened. Gohan looks down at his hand, which begins to glow golden. Gohan stands up, not yet looking at his opponents, saying that his father saved him... Gohan first turns Super Saiyan, then lets loose an incredible scream. When he finally turns around, we see that Gohan has turned into Super Saiyan 2, as he proclaims that he will be the one to protect the Earth! Gohan, crackling with golden aura and lightning, slowly begins to walk forward. Bujin and Bido rush forward to try and stop Gohan with the wires... it's no use... he keeps right on walking as if there is nothing there. Gohan opens his eyes and screams, completely destroying any trace of the wires. The two henchmen attack Gohan, who chops them both in half with a chop of his arm and leg, respectively, with no expression on his face. Gohan rushes in to attack Bojack, who pushes Zangya forward with a blast, killing her in the process, trying to distract Gohan. Bojack launches into the air and fires a massive ball of energy at Gohan, which has no effect but to destroy the land around him. As Bojack prepares to attack, he is stopped in his tracks... and an arm explodes out the other side. Gohan, still with no expression, has attacked with his full power. Bojack prepares to fire one final blast, but Gohan repels it with his own massive Kamehameha. In the foreground, Gohan stands... in the background, Bojack explodes from the inside, defeated.

Gohan, now out of Super Saiyan, finally smiles and falls backwards to the ground with his arms wide open. Goku congratulates his son from the afterlife, as Kaiô-sama chides Goku. Goku happily asks if he did anything wrong, to which the god responds... he doesn't know, he must have blinked! ^_~

Kuririn holds up a newspaper that says Mr. Satan has saved the Earth again. Everyone crowds around Gohan, who is lying in a hospital bed. Oolong tells Gohan how amazing he was, to defeat an opponent even Vegeta couldn't handle. Up above the hospital, Piccolo and Vegeta sit expressionless, facing opposite directions, while the newspaper honoring Mr. Satan floats by...
