Daizenshuu EX - Guides - Movie Guide - Jump Anime Tour 2008 Special

[ Main Information ] [ Detailed Synopsis ]

Jump Super Anime Tour 2008 Special
オッス! 帰ってきた孫悟空と仲間!

"Ossu! Kaette Kita Son Gokû to Nakama-tachi!!"
("Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!")

Basic Synopsis

Two years after the defeat of Majin Buu, a new battle takes place on Earth. Vegeta's younger brother, Tarble, arrives to ask for help in defeating Avo & Cado, two of Freeza's henchmen from years ago that have been terrorizing his planet. It is mostly fun and games for our heroes (now so much more powerful than ever before), so Goten and Trunks are sent out to fight the new villains. After beginning to have a little difficulty when Avo & Cado merge into "Aka", the two kids fuse into Gotenks, themselves. Aka unleashes a contiuous stream of energy blasts, so Vegeta and Goku are forced to enter the battle. Goku tricks Vegeta into looking away so he can deliver the final blow. While Mr. Satan's new hotel is completely destroyed in the battle, everyone gathers around (including Avo & Cado) to enjoy the food that was prepared for them.

Special Notes

This special feature was the first new DragonBall episode-length production in over ten years. It premiered during the Jump Anime Tour in 2008 (a traveling extravanza across ten Japanese cities, itself helping to celebrate teh 40th anniversary of Jump). Tickets to these showings were randomly provided to entrants of a giveaway contest ran through Shonen Jump.

It was announced that the new special would be streamed online the day after the final stop of the tour through the Jumpland website, though no further details were initially provided. Confusion and speculation ran rampant as fully-coherent English web pages were created in conjunction with the Japanese pages detailing the characters, plot, and more. On 24 November 2008, the special streamed online in raw Japanese, as well as fully subtitled in a few languages (including English).
