Daizenshuu EX - Multimedia - Music Database - Miscellaneous CDs

These CDs are ones that just don't fit in with other groupings. They may be special compilations, limited edition discs, or something else entirely. You're probably better off just reading the individual reviews ^^

The original Japanese title is written in blue, and underneath it in red in the English translation (where appilcable.. and uh... where I was able to actually translate it). Underneath that in the smaller font is the artist, where it is known.

Review - Julian

This is an interesting CD... it collects the opening and ending themes from the first four DBZ Movies, as well as the movie insert songs, some in-character songs from DBZ Hit Song Collection 4, and the opening theme to DB, just for kicks.

It's a pretty nice collection of songs to have, but you'll be getting a lot more for your money if you buy the first DBZ Complete Song Collection volume instead. I'd recommend this CD solely for completists (like Mike), or people who can't afford the first 3-CD set and/or don't want the other songs on it.

Just my two cents.

Review - VegettoEX

This is the original-DB companion to the much more massive DBZ Complete Song Collection sets. The first disc of the five CD Daizenshuu set is essentially a re-arranged version of this disc (personally, I like the set's disc order better than this one's, but oh well). You get a ton of songs that were used as themes and insert songs throughout the entire DragonBall TV series and Movies, plus some cute image songs sung in-character by their respective seiyû (Kame-Sen'nin's and Goku's songs are the funniest things on the face of the planet!).

If you can, try to get the reissued version (below). It's got the same tracks as the first disc of the Daizenshuu set, including the opening theme remix...and you'll be getting more for your money too.

Important tracks:
- "Makafushigi Adventure!" -- DB opening theme
- "Romantikku Ageru yo" -- DB closing theme
- "Mezase Tenka-ichi" -- DB episode insert song
- "Dragon Ball Densetsu" -- DB Movie 3 closing theme
- "Fushigi Wonderland" -- DB episode insert song
- "Wolf Hurricane" -- DB episode insert song
- "Red Ribbon Army" -- DB episode insert song
- "With a Burning Heart" -- DB episode insert song

Review - Julian

This CD is a reissue of the CD directly above it. It now includes the "New Remix Long Version" of "Makafushigi Adventure!," and its track ordering is exactly the same as the first disc of the 5-CD DragonBall & DragonBall Z: Daizenshuu set.

It does have spiffy new cover art, though... and if you don't have the 5-CD set, then the extra track is a plus. So... if you don't have the older version or the Daizenshuu set already, get this version and not the one above it.

You can order it from Amazon Japan right here (although Amazon has strangely renamed it "16th Track Title: 'Romantikku Ageru yo'"... I have no idea why, when the title's on the label... but anyway...).

Important tracks:
- "Makafushigi Adventure!" -- DB opening theme
- "Fushigi Wonderland" -- DB episode insert song
- "Wolf Hurricane" -- DB episode insert song
- "Mezase Tenka-ichi" -- DB episode insert song
- "Red Ribbon Army" -- DB episode insert song
- "With a Burning Heart" -- DB episode insert song
- "Dragon Ball Densetsu" -- DB Movie 3 closing theme
- "Romantikku Ageru Yo" -- DB closing theme

Review - Julian

This is the CD release of a DragonBall RECORD. That's right... this baby was originally on vinyl! Its release on CD (after 17 years) comes as the result of Columbia Japan's new "ANIMEX 1200" line, in which old releases are repackaged on CD at a special low price (1200 Yen), albeit sans liner notes.

But unless you don't have the 5 CD Daizenshuu set, there's no real reason to get this: this disc is all BGM from the Pilaf saga (along with the opening and ending themes), which is, aside from the themes, tracks 2-13 of the Daizenshuu set's Disc Two.

If you like DB BGM, and don't have the 5 CD set, then you'll probably enjoy this CD. I just wish they would have put more tracks on it. If you look at the CD Sets page, you'll notice that Disc Two of the 5 CD set has almost twice as many tracks as are listed here... I know that the rest of the tracks were all recorded after this album was originally released, but it would have made some nice bonus material (even if the price went up as a result). *sigh*

The CD can be ordered here.

Review - VegettoEX

This CD contains digitally remixed versions of popular DragonBall songs. Every single track is instrumental-only, with the exception of a couple voice samples here and there (such as on "Muten Rôshi no Oshie" in track 2). Most of the tracks have multiple remixes combined to form one long song; the best of them is probably track 7, which has the popular image song "Moero! Dragon Soldiers" which phases into five of the DBZ movie closing themes (on a personal note, I remember hearing this song back on Suushinchuu a really long time ago, and wondering where in the bloody hell Wuken got it from...now I know). Another fun track is 9, which mixes together the two DBZ TV Special ending themes. I would definitely recommend this CD to the harder-core fans of DBZ music, simply because they're new versions of songs you already know and own... it's just a fun CD.

Thanks to delta for the image scans.

The original live DBZ CD! In addition to the 10 tracks found on the EverAnime bootleg "DragonBall GT" CD, the original "Dragon '98 Special Live" CD contains the final song, the Jungle Fever Mix of "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA." This disc is absolutely wonderful, and if you can track down a copy, I highly suggest it.

This CD is, unfortunately, out of print, but if you keep an eye on eBay and the like, you might spot a copy sooner or later.

Special thanks goes out to Matt Caesar for providing a cover scan of the CD, and more information about it.

This is a drama CD of DBZ Movie 11. It's basically the audio from the movie, on a CD. That's all. Just as if you were watching the movie and closed your eyes, this is what you would hear!

You can guess who's making himself a super awesome stereo-audio custom version on DVD when this movie's released...!
